What happens when you take 3 seasoned ski mountaineers and you put them in a touring sea kayak (under skilled supervision, thought). All that happens in the densest archipelago in Mediterranean. Ah yeah, and the trip starts precisely at midnight.
Marcel Proust wrote that true voyage of discovery is not in seeking new landscapes but finding new perspectives. That's exactly what we got on this blitz tour to Kornati Archipelago. Here are a few snapshots from this adventure tour.
We start with an almost full moon (not counting the lighting and storm clouds above Zadar. That is miles away from where were (mentally and physically)).
At this time we slightly changed the initial plan to stay overnight in Sali. We hit the road right away in the middle of the night.
A short cycling ride along the dirt roads of Dugi Otok, followed by a micro adventure of packing your kayak in thick darkness (at this time moon was hidding behind the clouds).
And so, as the clock tips over to the new day (0:00), the adventure begins. Meandering among the maze of moonlit islands of Kornati.
Several hours later, after breakfast, something completely different. Ubiquitous Kornatean landscape...
...and unusually quite seascape...
...stretching as far as your eyes can see.
Islands and reefs scattered around 100m deep sea. (*photo credentials below)
You just pick an island. Then you paddle around it...
...if conditions permit: climb it. (*photo credentials below)
As above, so below. Flying down next to 100m high cliffs, caves, and overhangs. (*photo credentials below)
Later in the day I overheard a conversation: 'If more people knew how awesome this country is, people wouldn't go to Thailand as much.'
We would like to add: 'if more people just ventured outside the beaten path.'
A good adventure creates a sense of perspective. That's precisely what you get as you glide along the islands in the Adriatic and absorb the big blue around. Small. Sustainable. Fresh. Long live the adventure!
*Big kudos to NevenGo for marked photos. You clicked when the rest of us were busy having fun.

‘Moving your limits’ isn’t necessarily about the highest mountains, deepest canyons or oldest ruins. But it is about great adventures. It’s about that constant pursuit of world’s secrets – cultural as well as natural. It’s about how we move in nature and raise our expectations about each and every place in the world, moving our mental and physical limits on the way.
