With it's carbonate rock formations, Croatia is well known for some of the world class climbing areas and DWS locations. We investigate a few alternative locations off the beaten path.

There is abundance of islands, reefs and sea cliffs in the Adriatic, some of which are ideal DWS sites. We've pickes a few spots that caught our eye with routes as demanding as you want them to be. From beginner to expert and from barefoot climbers to full gear. There is a catch. As always, we're on the lookout for for the places a bit outside of the main routes. It may be difficult to get there, but if you find yourself in the area, it's definitely worth the effort to check it out.

Ispand Šipan - Elafiti

This beautiful vault is a 20 minute kayak ride/boat ride from Suđurađ on Šipan, just around the corner. Alternative departure point is Lopud – 40 minute ride out from the port.

Island Mljet – National Park

Most of the outter side of NP Mljet on the route from Soline to Pomena is full of stunning rock formations. Not all of them are surounded with deep water but there are plenty of safe spots.

Island Mana – Kornati National Park

Ever since Chris Sharma climbed on this island it has been compared to some of the best DWS locations in Mallorca. High routes go as far as 90m, but there is plenty of traversing possibilities for a beginner climber.
