Beekeeping day trip

Tap into island's 900 year old beekeeping tradition. A trip to learn about bees and beekeeping with insighful stories about beekeeping in Croatia, Balkan's and the world.
Litterally walk in the beekeepers shoes. Be surprised by the bees, insightful stories about their world and their products. All that on an island that was named after honey. Itinerary is around 6 hours long, with an optional swimm at the end.

BEEKEEPING DAY TRIP HIGHLIGHTS

INCLUDES
session 1: one hour introduction presentation on: basics of beekeeping, life of bees and history of beeekeping. includes: local honey refreshemnt, tea and coffee
session 2: one hour guided walk to the apiary and surrounding area: bee foragging territory (including a hike to one of the hilltops to get a perspective for the area). Includes beekeepers safety clothes
sesssion 3: sampling of local bee products (wax, honey and other products) . Includes: complimentary travel size Mellitus honey pack to take home
EXCLUDES
    food and drinks (let us know if you would like us to organize a lunch with a local ‘family agricultural enterprise’ - 20EUR per person)
    ferry and catamaran ticket to our base on island Molat (around 10EUR per person)
    tips
    PHYSICAL FITNESS

    Basic fitness level. Trip includes a 45 minute walk to the apiary and the bee forraging area.

    Recommened minimum age is 10.

    MEETING POINT

    Our guide will meet you at in Molat port (on island Molat) as you get off the catamaran from Zadar

    MEETING TIME

    Final meeting time, your boat connections and name of the guide will be confirmed via email when booking.

    BOAT CONNECTION TO MOLAT

    You just need to get on the boat from Zadar to Molat which is operated by Jadrolinija.

    ARRIVAL CONNECTION
    - Workdays and Sunday early morning from Zadar Old Town Harbour (1 hour drive to Molat).

    DEPARTURE CONNECTION
    - Afternoon from Molat.

    *Final boat connections to be confirmed via email when booking.

    You can buy your ticket on the day of your boat departure in Jadrolinija ticketing office (100m from where the boat deaparts) and literally 5 minutes by foot from most locations in Zadar Old Town. Return ticket is around 10EUR per person. You can buy only one way ticket and return ticket you can easily bay in Molat before your departure.

    WHAT TO BRING

    Recommended gear is:
    - long pants, long socks, closed shoes (to wear during the beehive visit)
    - picnic food for lunch (in case you you want to skip the lunch option)
    - running shoes (for a walk around the island)
    - swimming gear (for a swimm after the beekeeping workshop)
